Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai, Limited Edition

Set in the late 19th century Japan, in years of the Boshin way, "Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai" allows the players to choose a clan and join one side of the battle: Will you join the Emperor, and embrace the changing times and technology? Will you stay loyal to the Shogunate, who tries to retain the old ways of honor and the way of the sword? Or are you the bold type, who chooses to reject both their values, and start your own republic?

The new gameplay tweaks seen in "Fall of the Samurai" are unique to Shogun 2. Gone is the religion and rice supply mechanic, and they are now replaced by clan factions, and a modernization score. Steam ships and rifle units make their way into the game, causing a change in traditional battle formations and tactics. Modernizing quickly will allow you to build the bigger, faster, more accurate guns faster, but will cause unrest amongst the populace. After all, the people aren't used to cramming decades of Westernized Industrial Revolution within the span of a few years. Staying true to the old ways will certainly be a challenging task, and it's up to you to choose who emerges from the smoke: hot lead, or cold steel.

All praise aside, there are a few qualms with the new addition of Fall of the Samurai. Co-operative campaign desyncs are still a problem (although no longer as frequent as before), and many units lack the beautiful CG introduction and agent videos. Units speak in awkward Engrish, which result in sometimes funny, sometimes confusing situations.

Overall, Fall of the Samurai is a great game, albeit lacking a little in polish. If you're looking for a game that gives you the most bang for your buck, look no further!
